FESTUS ALAGBE

Festus Alagbe (b.1994) from Oyo State, Nigeria, is a contemporary surrealist artist living in Lagos, Nigeria. He graduated from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in Ibadan, Nigeria, studying Art and Design with a major in painting. He has also completed a residency with the Noldor Residency in Accra, Ghana. Working with acrylics, oils and wood, Festus engages with the human imagination and emotions, whilst he reflects on his own childhood memories and dreams. Exploring his visual vocabulary from an African perspective, Festus’ work speaks on the different aspects of African society, including politics, economics and cultural values. 

He has exhibited his work with galleries both inside and outside of Nigeria.
